Andy Leftus - Band Members

Brad - Drums

Brad began playing drums in the high school marching band and in country bands in the clubs around Atlanta as a teenager. After high school, he worked with members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section on studio projects and songwriters' demos. He also did a stint on the road in his early 20's, touring with Billy Joe Royal and serving as the house drummer for Bombay Studios in Atlanta.

Starting in 2003, he played with the original rock band "Motor 76", and released 4 CDs over six years. "I've now landed happily in the arms of Andy Leftus, playing the music I learned to play drums to. seems like I've come full circle."

Chuck - Rhythm guitar, vocals

Originally a native of Detroit, Michigan, Chuck grew up in the 60's and 70's listening to American and British rock and roll, as well as American folk music. He was bit BAD by the bluegrass bug in the 80's and things have never been the same since. He began playing guitar (Chuck favors Martins) and playing with bluegrass bands in Southeast Michigan. In 1990, Chuck started a country-rock band named the West Texas Wind (homage to the wild young cowboy in Marty Robbins' song "El Paso"). Chuck has played at fairs, festivals and road houses all over Michigan, some of the biggest clubs in Metro Detroit and opened for the likes of Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, John Berry and Leon Russell.

These days, Chuck's home is Suwanee, GA, with his wife Nancy and three dogs (they have many '3 dog nights' together). His musical influences range from Dylan, Seger, Elvis, Cocker and the Beatles to Bill Monroe, Haggard, Garth, Willie and Dwight. He prefers beating on an old flat top guitar, but when it's time to rock, he's not shy about strapping on a Telecaster.

"I like singing lead, but I really enjoy the opportunity to work with the other great singers in the Andy Leftus band and creating those 'wow' harmonies."

Dennis - Lead guitar, vocals

Dennis has been playing guitar since he saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show (that may be longer than some of you have been alive). Over the years he's played many different styles in many different situations. He has worked with many artists and had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people in the Music Business. He has traveled the "road" with some popular regional acts over the years and doesn't regret any of it. He married his wife Karen in 1972 (that lucky woman) and they are still together and "still crazy after all these years".

Dennis' long career as a professional musician in Atlanta (including playing lead guitar for Micropolis, the Alleykatz band, Ron Kimble band and Men in Blues) allowed him to share the stage in either warm up or showcasing situations with several national acts like Janis Joplin, Mothers Finest, Goose Creek Symphony, Peter Rivera and Rare Earth, Maceo Parker, The Chambers Brothers, Dickie Betts, Hydra, The Drifters, The Platters, Arthur Conley, The Atlanta Rhythm Section and many others. Yes folks, life is good for Dennis. And the best part is...he's still playing music and it's just as much fun as ever. These days he's happiest just singing and playing everybody's favorite songs.

Don - Electric bass, vocals

Don started playing music in Muncie Indiana in 1959. He wanted to play something cool like the trumpet. To his dismay all the trumpets had been taken and the only remaining horn was a coronet, which was not cool. The music director pointed to an old funky looking bass violin and said other than the coronet this was all that was left. He told Don the bass was made in the late 18th century and had real catgut strings. "Catgut strings, now that was cool".

It was August 5, 1965 at the Atlanta Stadium where the gates to music heaven opened for Don and his life changed forever. Live and in Don's face was the Beatles. After the concert he purchased his first electric bass and worked hard learning to play it. Reading music got in the way of his playing, so he gave that up. The first band Don played with was the 5th Order in 1966-67, ".what a long, strange trip that was!"

"After a war, many years, bands, bass guitars, gigs, smoky bars, playing in churches, along comes Andy Leftus. This band is a family affair."

Doris - Vocals, percussion

Georgia girl, born and raised, Doris moved to the Atlanta area in 1982. She met "the bass player" in 1991 and married him in 1993 (lucky him!). Don and Doris currently live in Buckhead. They have one daughter, a son-in-law and three grandchildren.

Her musical influences were whatever, "my big sister was listening to". mainstream 60's rock and a good dose of country. Doris has been singing along with the radio since she was old enough to change the channel. She learned to harmonize at an early age, traveling and singing southern gospel music with her family. Doris can't remember a time without music in her life. Music moves her emotionally and physically(!). Her mom said she learned to dance before she could walk. She still remembers her grandparents doing the jitterbug all across the kitchen floor when a Hank Sr. song came on the radio, so she must have got it from them. Yeah, that's Doris in the car next to you, dancing with the steering wheel to Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition'.

"Playing with Andy Leftus is a real treat for me. I'm in awe of the talented guys around me on stage. It's more fun than I deserve and I truly hope that transfers to the audiences we play to."
